Definition of "Al-suhbah"

Official designation for informal business co-operation or ‘companionship’ during Fatimid (AD 969–1171) and ’Ayubid (AD 1183–1260) Egypt. Merchants of lesser stature were known as sahib or companion of a merchant or firm of a greater reputation.
